About Johnston Psychology Associates
Susan L. Johnston, Ph.D and Frank C. Johnston, Ph.D. make up the psychotherapy practice known as Johnston Psychology Associates. We have been practice partners since 1989. Starting at 16 N. Goodman St. and later moving to 480 White Spruce Blvd., we now practice at 160 Allens Creek Rd. Rochester, NY 14618. In our latest office, we share space with two other psychologists and one psychiatrist.
Drs. Johnston met at Columbia University in the City of New York, completed their PhD training at the University at Albany and did their predoctoral internship at the University at Buffalo. Prior to independent practice, Dr. Sue Johnston worked for SUNY Brockport and Oak Orchard Community Health Services in their mental health services. Alternatively, Dr. Frank Johnston worked for Family Service of Rochester, the child and adolescent clinic at Rochester General Hospital, the Community Learning Development Center at RIT, and the childcare center at SUNY Brockport.
Dr. Sue Johnston specializes in working with adult women and couples.At the present time, she has a very limited practice. Dr. Frank Johnston works with adults with anxiety, depression, trauma and self-esteem issues, men and couples. He also enjoys working with career issues and performance-enhancing psychology with athletes, dancers, musicians, and high-risk populations (ie, firemen, police, surgeons) . Additionally, he has extensive training in play therapy and adjunct parent counseling.
Dr. Frank Johnston has published in the areas of career and talent development, optimal performance and sports psychology. He is particularly interested in positive psychology: peak performance, meditation and "flow", and career development. Dr. Susan Johnston research interests are in the areas of work and life balance for professional women,
When indicated, we have ongoing partnerships with child, adolescent and adult psychiatrists for medication consultations. We are also available to coordinate your treatment with your Primary Care Provider.

We are located in "The Park at Allens Creek". Please look for this large wood sign next to the abandoned railbed. Enter the office park and go to the far back. Building 160 is the last building, right before the dumpster and next to Harley school's baseball field Locate a large sign for building 160 and enter from the courtyard between building150 and 160. You can not enter directly from the parking lot. We are the first office on the left on the first floor. Bathrooms are located in the first floor lobby.
